As everyone will know, yesterday saw a relaxation of a number of NSW Health orders. COVIDSafe plans are now in place for all active aspects of our Club's operation effective from Monday October 11th. An important message from Matt Slattery regarding the upcoming season at NA SLSC. Dear Resident, I know there is a lot of uncertainty around the coming months and the current restrictions in relation to the Surf Club. I want to assure you that, as an emergency service organisation, we will be back patrolling the beach from Saturday the 18th September. North Avoca SLSC members assist with the NSW Flood Emergency Response! Working under the supervision of SLSCC Director of Life Saving, Simon Cusack North Avoca members (John Avis, Steve Brown, Lynette Vuradin and Darren Hutton) were deployed to the Mid North Coast to assist with flood relief, as part of the emergency services chain. The Easter Bunny is coming to North Avoca! After needing to cancel our Easter Door Knock last year due to COVID restrictions, this year we will be doing our Door Knock a little differently, recruiting some help from the Easter Bunny. From 2pm on Easter Saturday (3rd April), the Easter Bunny will be making his way through North Avoca. North Avoca SLSC and Avoca Beach SLSC come together for the Battle of the Beaches! Over 3 weeks in November, two great clubs, at opposite end of the same beach have come together in the first Battle of the Beaches! With the reduction in carnivals in the 2020/2021 season, North Avoca SLSC and Avoca Beach SLSC combined to provide their nippers with a fantastic and fun competition series. Lucy Wicks opens the newly refurbished North Avoca SLSC Patrol Room. Lucy Wicks MP and Club President Matt Slattery recently opened the newly refurbished North Avoca SLSC Patrol Room. This work was funded partially by a Federal Government Infrastructure Grant and a bequest from a local resident Juleen High, with new white goods and seating provided by Central Coast Council. We thank them for their contributions which are helping to keep our beach safe 7 days a week during the patrol season.
Our Junior Club Captains for the 2020 / 2021 Season are Olya Richards and Kale Puata! Congratulations to Kale and Olya who were announced as our North Avoca Junior Club Captains! Kale and Olya are a voice for our junior club members and there to help all of our team. We are so proud and can not wait to see the wonderful things you will do this season.
Gordon Crabb (Life Member) awarded 50 Year Service Award! Congratulations Gordon Crabb on achieving your 50 years National Patrolling Service Award Gordon joins an elite group at North Avoca with two other existing 50 year Patrol service award holders, John Roderick and Paul Johnston. All 3 members Patrol Captains and still patrolling and very active within our club. The awards were presented by local member Adam Crouch. Thank you Gordon, Paul and John and your families for all those years of service and all you have done for our club!
