The transition from nipper to youth member at North Avoca SLSC
NASLSC has a strong focus on keeping our Youth committed and motivated to continue with SLS after nippers. Our goal is to provide training, education and social opportunities to keep our youth engaged, build friendships and continue developing capable young lifesavers.
The Youth include our members from the U15s – U19s. NASLSC aims to cater for their varied needs and wants.
NASLSC recognises the many pathways available in SLS which our youth members may wish to follow including competition, gaining awards, IRB racing, patrolling and social events.
We encourage our youth members to continue patrolling by keeping friendship groups together and we provide various social events including an annual youth camp which builds connections to friends and SLS.
The youth surf sports competition is an exciting part of being involved in the club and is one aspect that attracts and keeps many members involved. Not only is it adrenaline pumping fun, our youth aim to develop their skills, abilities and confidence to continue their development as surf lifesavers.
NASLSC runs three fitness and skills sessions per week for our youth members which are suitable for those wishing to test their skills and fitness in competitions and also for those wanting to maintain and improve their skills and fitness for patrolling.
Our North Avoca Youth training occurs each week from October to April:
- Board / Swim – Tuesday & Friday afternoons and Sunday mornings
