North Avoca SLSC always welcomes new supporters and sponsors. Without our sponsors we would not be able to continue to run our club effectively and purchase much needed lifesaving equipment to help protect our community.

Absolutely!

All of our members, families, friends and wider community are welcome to join us for SIPs of a Sunday afternoon upstairs in the club house and on the balcony overlooking the glorious North Avoca Beach from 5pm-7pm.

At the beginning of each new patrolling season, the patrol roster and members are emailed to patrolling members from our Director of Life Saving.

Our hours of volunteer patrols vary slightly according to the time of the year:

Outside of Christmas School Holidays
Patrols operate between 9am and 5pm.

During Christmas School holidays
Patrols operate between 9am and 6pm

Volunteers patrol North Avoca beach all weekends and public holidays between September school holidays and Anzac Day or the last weekend of the Easter School Holiday (whichever is the later).

I’m not overly confident in the ocean but would like to join a patrol. Is this possible?2020-11-25T08:00:44+11:00

Yes!

On every patrol there are a variety of roles that need to be filled including First Aid officers and radio operators. Members who aren’t yet confident in the ocean can gain the qualifications and, in these areas, whilst building their skills in the ocean.

Then select ‘eLearning’ from the tool bar at the top of the page
Once you are in your ‘eLearning’ page from the left-hand menu select Training Library.

Available courses for you to complete should then appear.

Months that our Nipper program runs at North Avoca
Our Nipper program runs mid-October to March with a break over the Christmas and New Year period.

Nippers is held on a Sunday morning

Under 6 and Under 7s
Our program runs from 9am to 10am each Sunday

Under 8s and older
Our program runs from 9.30am to 11am each Sunday

Pink fluro rash vests must be worn for all Sunday nippers, club scheduled training and all competition events (some events such as State or Australian titles may provide competitors with a different colour fluro vest that vest is to be worn during that specific event).

Competition caps, colours and designs, must be approved and registered with the relevant State Centre and SLSA. Only registered colours and designs shall be permitted to be worn. In team events competitors must wear matching cap (and/or helmet) colours and design.

What are the minimum patrolling hours required to compete in any surf sports competitions?2020-11-25T07:52:04+11:00

To be eligible to compete for North Avoca SLSC in any carnivals you must:

Hold a current bronze medallion

Competed a minimum of 25 hours by the 31st December of the current season.

Each area of surf sports has specific age groups that apply to that event.
