Education and training at North Avoca SLSC

There are over 14 Surf Life Saving Australia Awards & Qualifications available to be undertaken with North Avoca SLSC. Please please contact Our Director of Education on education@naslsc.com.au or see links below for complete award overviews.

Surf Rescue Certificate

To become a Lifesaver the first award gained is the Surf Rescue Certificate. The Surf Rescue Certificate is a steppingstone to the full Bronze Medallion that is generally the minimum standard required for full patrolling duties. The Surf Rescue Certificate was originally intended for young people aged between 13 and 15 years, however, anyone over the age of 13 can qualify at this level.

Bronze Medallion

The Bronze Medallion course provides participants with the skills and knowledge of patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. This is the core award to be a surf lifesaver in Australia. Once a member has obtained their Bronze Medallion they are assigned to a patrol and become eligible to compete in Surf Lifesaving carnivals. They must complete an annual skills maintenance session to continue to patrol and compete in Surf Lifesaving carnivals.
