We are proud to announce that Jodie Walker has been awarded Life Membership of North Avoca SLSC at our recent Annual General Meeting, on the 26^th July 2026

Jodie has provided long-term active service to North Avoca SLSC and surf lifesaving more broadly.

• member of North Avoca SLSC since 2007;
• active patrolling member at North Avoca from 2010;
• approximately 16 years of North Avoca patrol service;
• more than 20 years of national patrol service recorded;
• approximately 940 patrol hours at North Avoca;
• Patrol Captain from 2016/17 onward;
• Director of Education from 2015/16 to 2019/20;
• Trainer, Assessor and Facilitator roles;
• IRB Driver, IRB Crewperson, IRB competitor and official;
• recognised contribution through Club, Branch and national

Summary of distinguished service

Jodie’s contribution has been broad, sustained and significant. Her service has extended beyond patrol attendance and has included patrol leadership, education leadership, training, assessment, mentoring, IRB involvement, officiating and broader member support.

A major feature of Jodie’s contribution has been her role in education and assessment. She has helped train, assess and requalify members across key lifesaving areas, assisting the Club to maintain qualified and capable patrolling members.

Her service has also been recognised through roles and awards including Club Person of the Year, Branch Trainer of the Year, Branch Assessor of the Year and the Australian National Medal.

Jodie’s legacy is strongest in the areas of education, assessment and member capability.

Her contribution has helped strengthen North Avoca’s ability to train, assess and requalify its own members. She has also supported the development of other trainers and assessors, helping build the Club’s long-term education capacity.

Jodie’s contribution has had a lasting impact on member confidence, patrol readiness, training standards and the Club’s ability to maintain qualified lifesavers.
