Welcome to North Avoca SLSC
Our Surf Club provides aquatic safety for all visitors, ensuring families enjoy their leisure time in safety. Volunteers have been patrolling North Avoca Beach since 1956.

North Avoca SLSC volunteer lifesavers patrol North Avoca Beach between September – April on weekends.
Whether you aspire to be a competent Lifesaver or wish to represent your Club, State or Country in Surf Sports, North Avoca SLSC can assist you in these goals. We encourage members development of surf skills and provide the required training for lifesaving and competition for all ages.
Planning for the Future
Planning for the Future – Member and Community Consultation Part 1
Delivering a substantial infrastructure project is a massive undertaking and one that is a multi-year process. Our Club Board and Building Committee have been diligently working together with our engaged Architects, through the Planning and Design Phase.
Here is a brief overview of what has occurred to date:
- Thorough due diligence report established using subject matter expert data
- Council Consultation
- Brief established and drafted
- Architect firm engaged for concept planning and DA process
- A fundraising grant (NSW Government Planning and Design Grant) secured for purpose of assisting us to the DA phase
- Architect has developed early CONCEPT plans and renders.
- Member and community consultation process part 1, presented on the 30th of August 2026 by our engaged architects, Webber Architects.

Please note that this is a planning and design phase and plans are concept plans. It is NOT a construction project plan phase. Construction will not commence, and budgets will not be finalised, without the completion of a thorough consultation process.
What’s Next?
- Members and community welcome to submit feedback to building@naslsc.com.au prior to 18th September
- Feedback assessed and implemented accordingly
- Member and Community consultation part two will occur October 2026
- Concept adoption
- Architect to finalise plans for DA lodgement
- DA lodgment to council by the end of December 2026
- Once the DA has been approved, the board will transition to phase 2 of the project, which is finance acquisition and associated project management tasks required for building construction

North Avoca SLSC at a glance
North Avoca Surf Life Saving Club was unofficially founded in 1956 in the garage of Don Davies. It was created from a desire to prevent any more tragic deaths as was experienced that same year when two young men drowned during an after-lunch swim.
The first club house was an old wooden shed situated next to local man, Ian Morrison’s garage. The club house as stands onsite today was officially opened on the 9th March, 1966 – it was valued at $25,000 at the time and was refurbished and extended during 1999.
